Illness and Absence from school

If your child is away from school because of illness, please telephone the school office before 9.30am on the morning of the first day of absence. It is very important for us to be notified as we take the safety of our pupils seriously. Late arrivals are recorded in the registers and can cause disruption to the whole class as teaching starts promptly at 9.00am. It is a parental responsibility for children to be at school on time.

If your child has been ill, please do not send him/her to school for at least 24 hours after the symptoms have ceased. This will help prevent the spreading of any possible infection.

If your child is unwell at school, or has an accident, we will make every effort to contact the named person. It is important that our records are kept up to date in this respect, so please keep us informed of any changes. Basic first aid is applied in school. If an accident needs hospital attention we will try to contact you first. In the event that we are unable to contact you, we will act on your behalf.

If your child has to leave school during the day for a medical appointment, please make sure that the class teacher is notified in writing.
