Year 2 children:
- Work more on maintaining attention, concentrating and sitting quietly when appropriate. Their English language skills continue to be developed.
- Are able to use spoken and written language to communicate their ideas. They make their own poems and stories. Children recognize words and read them with fluency, show an understanding of elements of the story and non-fiction texts; write for different purposes, increase their experience of books. Children's math knowledge becomes more profound
- Are introduced to three-digit numbers, they recognize multiples of 2, 5 and 10, they can record number sentences involving all four operations (+, - , x, /), they study symmetry, time, measuring. Together with academic progress children learn to respect their own cultures and beliefs and those of other people and the need to work together harmoniously. All the activities children do, allow them to build up vocabulary and become fluent in English.
