Picnic

picOn the 18th of June the AIS summer camp ended with a picnic at the lake. From the moment we arrived everyone took part in various activities including football, volleyball, tennis, and badminton. During a break we feasted upon delicacies prepared by our outstanding chefs. After a delightful lunch some of the children participated in a students vs teachers football match whilst others had a walk along the lake where they took pictures, gathered deal apples, and some even tried to walk on water in human water bubbles! Everyone agrees, this was a great picnic by the lake!

Matrushka Museum

matrOn the 17th of June, pupils went to the Russian Doll (Matrushka) Museum. There they visited the house where the first matrushka was made and learned the history and meaning of the dolls. There were many collections to see along with an exhibit of hand bells. Before leaving the museum, everyone had a chance to buy their favourite doll as a souvenir of our visit.

Borodino Memorial Estate

borOn June 16th the summer camp visited the State Borodino Military History Memorial Estate. Here the pupils learned the history of the 1812 Patriotic War between Russia and France. There were lots of pictures on show along with plans of the attacks made by the armies as well as their defences. During the visit pupils were able to ask questions about the war and its commanders. The pupils found the trip interesting as they were able to gain insight into Russia's military history.
